Aundair is one of the five nations and is famous for the haughty attitude of its cosmopolitan nobles and a proliferation of magic but this is half true. In the lands of Aundair the richest farmlands can be found, worked by the rough and tumble farmers of the land. Although Aundair had powerful mages at its disposal it suffered the most (behind Cyre), having lost Thaliost, the cultural beacon of the land to Thrane. Then the [[Eldeen Reaches]] broke away from Aundair and the war resolved before Aundair was able to reclaim their territories. Aurala ir'Wynarn is ambitious, forming alliances with Dragonmarked houses, eager to bring Aundair back to the forefront of the nations.

The people of Aundair can be rugged argriculturist, bookish scholars or solitary monks. A common uniting factor among the people of Aundair is their haughty demeanor, and while arrogance is by no means unique among the five nations, Aundair is a very competitive culture, especially since it has two of the most famous centers of higher learning, the Arcanix, and the University of Wynarn. From a young age children are taught the importance strong will in comptetition, and while not all Aundairans are headstrong, never expect them to concede a point easily, in fact public duels are a mainstay of Aundairan culture.
